Ben White says Gabriel Martinelli’s form is no surprise to him…
Arsenal defender Ben White stated that Gabriel Martinelli’s form isn’t surprising to him as he sees the Brazilian produce in training every day, The Evening Standard reports.
Martinelli has made six consecutive appearances in the Premier League, netting four times and providing two assists in those games.
The 20-year-old has now become a mainstay in the team, keeping out the likes of Emile Smith Rowe and Nicolas Pepe.
Fans have long been calling for Martinelli’s reintroduction into the team although manager Mikel Arteta’s has resisted those external voices until the youngster was ready.
Now, with the former Ituano man developing into a match-winner, White isn’t surprised.
“I see him every day, so it’s not really a surprise to me,” White was quoted as saying.
“He’s a very talented player and that’s what we are all starting to see.”
Three consecutive league wins have seen us propel our league position to fourth and while other teams have games in hand, White wants to see the team go on another impressive run.
“We want to keep winning games. We went on a good run before and then we lost to [Manchester] United. We want to keep the run going now and keep winning.
“We are going to keep taking it game by game and just keep working hard ahead of every game.”
For now, our league ambitions are paused as we look to secure another cup semi-final appearance under Arteta’s tutelage with a win against Sunderland sending us to the final four of the Carabao Cup.
