Chris Sutton: Arsenal Have Let Their Fans Down

BBC Radio 5 Live pundit Chris Sutton launched a scathing attack on Arsenal’s lack of ambition as a football club given our inactivity in the transfer market while our rivals have significantly strengthened their squads.

Granit Xhaka, who arrived in May, remains our only signing of note in the transfer window despite our crisis at both ends of the pitch.

Danny Welbeck’s long-term injury last season made it imperative for us to sign a new striker, and he’s now joined on the sidelines by Per Mertesacker who’s suffered a long-term knee injury.

“I don’t know where Arsenal are going,” a bemused Chris Sutton said on the radio.

“Until Wenger goes Arsenal won’t win the Premier League.”

Sutton’s sentiment is felt by a large section of the Arsenal fans, though the club has 30 days to make up for their lacklustre attitude in the window.
