Declan Rice enjoying his time in north London…
Arsenal star Declan Rice is enjoying life at the club and is content with the move he made in July after being awarded London’s Premier League Player of the Year, Sky Sports News reports.
Rice, after guiding West Ham United to their first trophy in a generation, decided to seek a new challenge and despite a plethora of clubs making a move for him, the 24-year-old only had eyes for one club.
The former Hammers skipper saw the team’s trajectory last season and felt this was a project he could join at the right time as we look to end our 20-year Premier League drought.
Now, with the club in the midst of yet another title race and with a crucial Champions League home tie coming up, Rice is happy with how it’s going.
“The team learned a lot last year,” the England international said at the London Football Awards.
“We’re stronger and have more belief. When we go a goal down we always believe we will get back into games. It’s honestly an honour to play for this club.”
The narrative around Rice’s move to Arsenal was very much shrouded in negativity externally, with many feeling that he should’ve joined Manchester City for ‘guaranteed trophies.’
Some even believed that Arsenal’s form in the Premier League last season was a ‘fluke’ and that the team could struggle this term.
With that being the case, Rice has already been vindicated and even if we fall short this season, the trajectory of this young team is only going in one direction.
Rice’s chances of getting his hands on major silverware this term will be dictated by what transpires before the international break.
Arsenal take on Sheffield United and Brentford in the Premier League before the much-anticipated home tie against Porto in the Champions League.
