Arsenal starlet Emile Smith Rowe says he feels at home in the first team after grabbing his first senior goal in our 3-0 win against Qarabag, the teenager told BT Sport.

Smith Rowe was promoted to the first team by Unai Emery upon his arrival in the summer and after starting our first pre-season friendly against Boreham Wood, it quickly became apparent why.

The teenager mirrors Aaron Ramsey’s power in terms of making runs into the box, though he does have surer technique than his elder statesmen.

Smith Rowe started the game rather nervous, giving the ball away in one instance and receiving a rollicking from stand-in skipper Nacho Monreal.

However, as the game wore on, he started to impose himself and eventually grabbed the all-important second goal to put us in a comfortable position.

“To score my first goal today and to get the three points, it’s just a dream come true,” Smith Rowe said.

“I feel at home in this team. I train with them every day and everyone’s so welcoming. I’m just happy to be around everyone.”

Making the step from development football into the first team is regarded as the hardest hurdle in professional football, and it seems Smith Rowe has done exactly that.

However, the next few years will be crucial as Smith Rowe grows physically and one hopes he can continue to improve technically and, more importantly, tactically.
