Stewart Robson feels Alexis Sanchez must start vs Chelsea…
Former Arsenal midfielder Stewart Robson believes it will represent another bizarre decision if Arsene Wenger leaves Alexis Sanchez out of the team against Chelsea.
Alexis was left on the bench in our last Premier League clash against Bournemouth, and his return in the Europa League on midweek only intensified the calls for him to start.
The Chilean netted a sensational winner in our 3-1 over FC Cologne, and Robson believes that Alexis must start the game regardless of what hesitations Wenger may have regarding his commitment.
As we travel to the champions seeking our first win at Stamford Bridge since 2011, we’ll need our best players on the pitch and to be firing on all cylinders.
“He’s their best player,” Robson simply stated on ESPN FC.
“Whether he wants to get away to Manchester City or wherever he wanted to go to.
“Alexis Sanchez is Arsenal’s best player and has been for the last couple of years.
“If he’s fit he has to play because he’s the player that can change the game for them.”
While Alexis was our top scorer last season with 30 goals in all competitions, it still didn’t help us in our trip to Chelsea last season.
The Chilean has tasted defeat in each of his league visits to west London since arriving in England, and it remains to be seen if his presence can prevent the inevitable.
Arsene Wenger will likely have to choose between Alexis and Danny Welbeck for the two positions behind Alexandre Lacazette in a 3-4-3 system.
