Unai Emery has been handed a nightmare of a start for the Premier League as the fixtures ahead of the 2018/19 season were announced on Thursday.

We host champions Manchester City on the opening weekend, a team that ran away with the title last season in emphatic fashion. If that wasn’t hard enough, our second encounter sees us travel across London for a derby against former Premier League champions Chelsea.

A fast start to the campaign is imperative in this of all seasons given the microscope on the new manager and dropping points in those games will only raise questions.

However, we have a favourable run following those opening games, playing one top-side – Liverpool – until December. Our first north London derby takes place on December, 1st at Spurs’ new stadium. We host the return game on March 3rd ahead of an exciting run-in.

As ever with these fixtures, there are subject to substantial changes once the TV stations get their pick with who they want to televise.

Also, for the first time in a generation, the transfer window will be shut by the time we kick-off against Pep Guardiola’s side, which puts an added urgency on our summer business.
