Arsenal midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan is a doubt for the Premier League clash against Burnley this weekend after picking up an ankle injury against Spurs on Wednesday, the club has confirmed.

The injuries are mounting for Unai Emery and while they’re mostly in the defensive departments, Mkhitaryan’s injury comes at a very bad time for us and the Armenian.

The 30-year-old netted a brace in our last Premier League outing against Southampton and while we were largely poor in the midweek derby, Mkhitaryan provided the few bright sparks.

Our team does seem rather one-paced going forward, and the former Manchester United man has the ability to carry the ball for us going forward.

Elsewhere, Shkodran Mustafi and Hector Bellerin will miss the clash against Sean Dyche’s men, though the former has a chance of making the squad for our midweek trip to Brighton.

For Bellerin, it looks as though he’ll be out until the new year with the calf injury he suffered on the brink of half-time at St Mary’s.

However, given that Emery has switched to a back three in recent months which Mkhitaryan has largely featured in, will his absence spark another change in the system?

As the transfer window draws near, I don’t think the club has a choice as to what it whether or not if delves into the market – we’re getting desperate.
