Arsenal are reportedly interested in making a move for Legia Warsaw goalkeeper Radoslaw Majecki in a move that would see the 19-year-old loaned back to the Polish side immediately, The Evening Standard reports.

According to the reports, scouts from the club watched him play for Poland U-20s’ recent matches and have been impressed by what they saw.

One would imagine this operation is being led by ‘head of recruitment’ Sven Mislintat who seems to have been tasked with unearthing gems as the club scales down on our spending.

A goalkeeper isn’t necessarily the most pressing issue in the squad, though Petr Cech is out of contract in June and there has been little desire to extend his deal from the club’s side.

Bernd Leno is the undisputed No.1 at the club and with David Ospina potentially making his loan move to Napoli permanent in the summer, we may need some competition between the sticks.

Emi Martinez is still on the books though he’s only made one appearance all season, and the Argentine is being eyed by Rennes according to reports in France (Yahoo France).

Signings like Majecki will always be possible for us given our history of aiming to unearth gems, though our first team is desperately in need of some surgery.

Defensive signings and wide forwards should be the priority in the next few windows, and they need to be players ready to make an impact.

Arsenal has always been a club with an eye on the future, but we now have a manager who doesn’t have credit in the bank in terms of achievements with us and has, in theory, three years to get it right.
