Mesut Ozil had some kind words to say about Arsenal great Arsene Wenger after hosting a Q&A on his Twitter account.

The German wizard was asked about our former manager and the impact he had on him during their five-year stay together, and Ozil had nothing but pure words to say about Wenger.

Just as the song goes, Ozil is Wenger’s man in the sense that he brought him to the club in 2013, smashing our transfer record in the process.

It was certainly a shift in the club’s history in terms of flexing our financial muscle, even if we’ve since been eclipsed many times over since then.

And, despite many calls during his reign to drop, and even sell, Ozil, Wenger continued to put his neck on the line for him and refused to criticise him in public.

It’s the loyalty that Ozil respected the most and he’s eternally grateful to the icon for sticking by him.

He always protected and supported me the best way he could,” Ozil told fans on Twitter.

“I’m very thankful he was my coach. Would love to see him as a club manager again.”

Despite its infancy, Ozil and Unai Emery’s relationship seems strictly business and given that the new head coach will not be afforded any luxuries if things were to go bad, he can’t rest on pleasing individuals.

Hopefully, that relationship bears fruitful on the pitch.
