Gary Neville has revealed that he was left stunned by our display against Spurs as we thrashed our north London rivals in a thrilling derby, he told NBC Sports.

Neville was commentating on the game for Sky Sports and repeatedly expressed his surprise at how we hounded Mauricio Pochettinho’s men all over the park.

They’re a team many associate with a high press and an overall intense game, but we were the ones setting the tempo of the affair and should’ve been comfortably in the lead 20 minutes in.

Spurs did take the lead against the run of play with two efforts in quick succession, but we upped the levels again after the break which further wowed Neville.

Asked about how he felt Pochettino would be feeling after today’s result, the former Man United man believes he’d be sharing the same sentiment as himself and the fans in attendanceĀ – a sense of shock.

“The problem with today is that I don’t think Mauricio Pochettino is the only one is shocked,” Neville said.

“I don’t think you could ever have imagined that Arsenal would produce a performance like that – I’ve not seen that here for years.

“The competitiveness of the team, the energy in the team, the spirit in the team. I think they’ve been caught by surprise. I think I’ve been caught by surprise.”

Winning the derby always raises belief and excitement among us fans, but it’s imperative that we keep this level of performance for most of the season.

We travel to Manchester United on Wednesday and despite the fact that we haven’t won at Old Trafford since 2006, we head there as favourites and need the points to keep up with the teams around us.
