Jamie Carragher had some choice words for Gunners board…

Jamie Carragher labelled the Arsenal board as cowards for handing Arsene Wenger a contract at the back-end of last season after we were thrashed by Liverpool.

The Reds humbled us on Sunday afternoon with a ferocious performance, exposing all our flaws under Wenger in big games over the past few years.

Our performance at Anfield was even more alarming given the number of players who looked disinterested and put in minimal effort.

Wenger also agreed, questioning the motivation level of his squad and their work ethic, something he’s infamously shied away from.

“If I’m being honest, the board bottled the decision over this summer,” Carragher said on Sky Sports.

“They were terrified of moving the manager on, who has been a legend and a great success there. There had to be a change. There had to be!

“”Last season, I called them ‘cowards’. And afterwards maybe I got a little bit of criticism, maybe that’s a bit too strong and you can’t say that on live TV, but I’ll say it again – cowards.”

Cowards may be to lenient for the Arsenal board, a group of individuals who haven’t realised that they’ve hit a brick wall and are attempting to ignore what needs to be done.

They will soon realise that Groundhog Day has arrived.
