Jorginho sums up his Arsenal stint…

Arsenal midfielder Jorginho admitted that he sees the game differently since joining the club earlier this year, praising the work done by Mikel Arteta, the Mirror reports.

It’s a rhetoric we’ve seen regurgitated by players after working with Arteta in recent years, highlighting the Spaniard’s football knowledge and attention to detail.

Jorginho – an experienced player who had already won the Champions League with Chelsea and the European Championships – being in awe of your work as a coach is a massive boost to Arteta’s profile.

The 31-year-old is a player Arteta has admired for some time and the boss finally got his man in the winter transfer window last season.

For £12million, Jorginho has been a shrewd piece of business who’s allowed us to be less dependent on an injury-prone Thomas Partey.

“Obviously, it takes time to understand the mechanisms better,” the former Napoli man was quoted as saying while on international duty with Italy.

“Arteta gives you a billion pieces of information but I’m very happy there.

“I have grown a lot on the pitch, in experience,” he added. “I changed teams, coaches, therefore more information. I understood the game even more and how to compete.”

Jorginho is out of contract in June and speculation was rife last summer that the midfielder was eyeing a move back to Italy. Arsenal hold an option to extend his deal by a further year, though the midfielder did admit that a move home sounds appealing.

“I’m very much in doubt, I would like to return but I don’t know when the right time would be.

“I want to return yes, but I don’t know when, I feel I still have things to do at Arsenal. It always takes time when you change teams, but the first six months at Arsenal were not negative, on the contrary,” Jorginho concluded.
