Kylian Mbappé still harbours hopes of working under the Arsenal icon…

France international Kylian Mbappé revealed that his dream coach would be former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger and that he still hopes that could still be possible.

Mbappé is arguably the next superstar of world football after bursting onto the scene during the 2016/17 campaign, scoring over 20 goals and leading Monaco to a league title and a semi-final berth in the Champions League.

He was quickly being eyed up by Europe’s superstars and there were even reports that we tabled a €100m offer for the teenage superstar last summer (via The Evening Standard).

However, it became rather obvious that we didn’t have the funds to compete with the other giants who were circling around Mbappé, and he later joined Neymar at Paris Saint-Germain.

For Mbappé, though, the dream to be managed by Arsene Wenger lives on: “He is French, he had a great career, and in addition, he is free as he has just left Arsenal,” the forward said on C8 TV after being asked which manager he dreamed of working with.

Having made a name for himself at Monaco and given his explosive talents, Mbappé has often been compared to Arsenal icon Thierry Henry.

The two have been in contact since Mbappé was a kid and the Arsenal icon has watched him rise the new phenomenon of world football.

It’s therefore understandable that Mbappé wants to see how Wenger can elevate his game too. With Wenger now a free agent, the two may well meet at international level.
