Jeremy Corbyn is Wenger In…
Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn is an avid supporter of Arsene Wenger and as the Frenchman announced that he’ll extend his 21-year stay, the Islington resident couldn’t be happier.
While the interview above was recorded before the announcement, Corbyn feels we all have to be behind Wenger given his basic human qualities and love for the game.
Corbyn, ever the idealist, gave an interesting anecdote to explain why he’s fully behind a manager he first met during his early years at Highbury while he was with his two kids.
“Wenger came to the club in 1996, and he wasn’t particularly well known,” the N0.10 candidate narrated.
“A few months later, me and my boys and some other kids, I’d taken them to the park. And Arsene Wenger is walking to the stadium carrying a box and so we stopped. He put the box down and just chatted to them about football. This is a man who’s human.
“This is a man who’s human.”
In many ways, Corbyn and Wenger share a few similarities in their different professions. Both are facing hostility from within their own environment with scepticism about their ability to lead.
However, both are decent human beings who you’d love to have a cup of tea with and share a conversation about any topic in the world.
In football, and in politics, there’s no time for the ‘nice guy’ – results are needed.
