Arsenal legend Martin Keown has called on Unai Emery to change the formation going forward after another defeat in the Premier League.

Chelsea handed us our second defeat in as many weeks and although many were prepared for such a difficult start, some of our defending in both games has been woeful.

Emery has admitted that we need more work and that points will soon be put on the board, but Keown feels a tactical switch is needed if we’re to progress.

Our new head coach has opted for a 4-2-3-1 system in both games, playing two anchor players behind a No.10 – Aaron Ramsey occupied the role behind Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang against Man City and was replaced by Ozil for the trip to Stamford Bridge.

However, for Keown, he wants that free role sacrificed for another central midfield player and to go with a 4-3-3.

“I feel the formation needs to change,” the former defender said on BT Sport’s Premier League tonight show.

“They need to play a three in midfield. They don’t look right with two.

“When Mkhitaryan moved centrally he looked effective.”

On Ozil, Keown feels it may be time to drop him for the sake of the team: “Is it time now to maybe take Ozil out of the team? Is it time to maybe play Mkhitaryan (centrally).”
