Arsenal youngster Matteo Guendouzi has praised the team’s spirit this season as we continue our run of 17 games undefeated with Unai Emery stamping his identity at the club, Goal reports.

After coming back from a goal down to level the score in the final moments against Wolves, the Frenchman stated that it’s the squad’s refusal to give up which aided the comeback.

Now, as we prepare for our clash at Bournemouth, looking to end a run of three consecutive league draws, Guendouzi reflected on his – and the team’s – start to the season.

The teenager joined in the summer from Lorient and it seemed as though he’d joined as a long-term option given his lack of experience, but it quickly became clear that wasn’t the case.

Guendouzi started our first five league games ahead of our biggest summer signing Lucas Torreira, and he didn’t necessarily let us down either.

“I’m very happy about my start,” the Frenchman was quoted as saying.

“After that, the most important thing for me is the team, we’re on a good run of 15 or 16 games without a loss, which is something we need to continue on.

“We’ve drawn the last three games in the league, but we’re a very solid team, and I hope we can do great things.

“There’s a really good togetherness in the group, and that’s why we’ve made a good start to the season. It really is everyone together. There’s no specific groups, and it shows on the pitch.”

Guendouzi continues to surprise us with his displays and one quality which has amazed me is his mental strength and his refusal to choose the easy option given his age.

You often see younger players pass responsibility on to senior players, though Guendouzi is intent on demanding possession and also makes decisive passes.
