Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino reacted to Wednesday’s Carabao Cup draw by stating that he’s very much looking forward to locking horns with Unai Emery, someone he considers a friend.

Pochettino praised Emery’s coaching ability and made it clear that he’s made us a better team, and the two do genuinely seem like good friends.

A conference in Madrid about coaching abroad was hosted by Emery and Pochettino during the last international break, with the Argentine making reference to his familiarity with Emery’s entire coaching team.

The two, bright coaches haven’t pitted wits in a competitive game since Espanyol came up against Emery’s Valencia during his La Liga days.

Upon hearing the quarter-final draw which will see us host our arch rivals in December, Pochettino said he’s looking forward to the clash.

“I think it will be such an exciting game,” the Argentine told reporters (via Hayters TV).

“I am so excited to play and to face Arsenal. And of course Unai Emery, he is a very good friend of ours, and he has a great coaching staff. I think he’s a top manager with top coaching staff, I have big, big respect for them.

“And of course, he is doing a great job and he is going to do a great job in Arsenal. We are so happy to face Arsenal.”

It will mean that we’re set to host two north London derbies in a matter of weeks, given that our league game against the homeless side takes place on December 2nd.

Let the games commence.
