Mika Biereth has been on fire in Scotland…
Arsenal loanee Mika Biereth who spent the first half of the campaign at Motherwell has returned to London Colney and trained with the first team ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup clash against Liverpool.
Biereth has been on fire this season, scoring six times and notching five assists in 14 Scottish Premiership appearances as he proves that he can translate his youth form to senior football.
There hasn’t been any communication from the club on whether the Danish U21 international has been recalled by the club. With Motherwell out of action until later this month, some feel that he’s training at the club during the winter break.
On the other hand, leaving the country and returning to your parent club for just a fortnight before Scottish football resumes would be rather bizarre and one wonders if Biereth has actually been recalled.
Mikel Arteta has stressed that he has to use the tools at his disposal when it comes to improving the side and not dwell on any potential incomings in the January transfer window.
If the Spaniard is being consistent with that school of thought, it wouldn’t be a surprise if he’s seen Biereth’s clinical record and felt he could help the team in the coming months.
Biereth joined the club in 2021 after a sensational season with Fulham’s U18 side and after replicating that form with our U21s, the 20-year-old has attempted to make the step to men’s football.
A loan to Holland with RKX Waalwijk didn’t go to plan last season as a number of niggling injuries halted Biereth’s progress, making a mere 12 appearances for the entire campaign.
Biereth has certainly found his feet in Scotland and it will be interesting to see what the club relays as to why the striker is back in north London.
