Monaco hand Arsenal Thomas Lemar blow…
Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyev has claimed that the Ligue 1 side are closed for business in terms of selling players following Benjamin Mendy’s transfer to Manchester City.
The Ligue 1 champions have sanctioned the sales of Bernardo Silva and Mendy to Man City, as well as allowing Tiemoué Bakayoko to join Chelsea.
Some of Europe’s top clubs are still circulating Monaco, with Fabinho, Thomas Lemar and, of course, Kylian Mbappé the cause of much speculation.
Lemar is the man Wenger wants, according to a number of reports indicating that we’ve had a few bids turned down for the winger, yet Vasilyev insists the aforementioned trio will remain.
“I will address speculation relating to the case of Thomas Lemar. He is staying with us,” the Russian businessman told the press.
“He is an immense talent and is essential for the team.
“We have kept all of the key players that we intended to keep.”
Just as he did with Mbappé, Wenger must ditch this pursuit and quickly search for an alternative, with Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez available at a decent price.
If Wenger was intending to play Lemar in central midfield, then highly rated Nice star Jean Michael Seri should be a major target, especially with such a modest release clause in his contract (via RMC).
