Arsenal boss Unai Emery says the recent reports linking us with an imminent move for Real Madrid’s Keylor Navas are untrue and reiterated his belief in our current group of goalkeepers, James Olley from The Evening Standard reports.

Reports last week emerged indicating that Navas could be heading to the Emirates after he posted a farewell message on social media after falling behind Thibaut Courtois in the pecking order.

It seemed rather odd at the time given the other noises emanating from the club suggesting that we have very limited funds for signings in January.

With our squad desperately short of forwards and centre-backs, splashing €14million on a goalkeeper wouldn’t really be the smartest decision the club has made.

“Not true,” Emery told reporters ahead of our FA Cup trip to Blackpool.

“We never speak about one goalkeeper because I think – and it’s true – we are very happy with the three goalkeepers we have now. We’ve never spoken about Keylor Navas.”

Despite Bernd Leno’s rather inconsistent start to the season and Petr Cech’s impending exit, adding a 32-year-old goalkeeper should be last on our list of priorities.
