Paul Scholes says Wenger should decide his own future…

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has had his say on the future of Arsene Wenger and the former midfielder believes that the boss should decide what he wants to do with his future.

A number of Arsenal fans are calling for Wenger to stand down at the end of his current deal though it seems that board are keen to see the Frenchman sign on a new two-year contract.

Giving Wenger a new deal may have been easier for the board to sell if our season wasn’t in such freefall after we lost our fourth league game against West Bromwich Albion last week.

Despite that, Scholes still believes that Wenger should be left to decide his own future.

“He’s earned the right to do what he wants to do,” Scholes said.

“Of course he’s under a lot of pressure because of the way they’ve performed in the last few weeks, it’s not been good enough for that football club.

“Whether he wants to stay or he wants to go you have to respect his decision.”

Wenger told the world that a decision had been made on his future after the defeat at West Brom, but he refused to actually reveal it to the public.

It has left supporters deeply frustrated and one can only assume that the club are waiting for circumstances to arise whereby they can announce a new deal for the boss.

No matter the service Wenger has given, he still has to earn a new two-year deal and there seems little justification as to why there’s one currently on the table.
