Petr Cech Plays In Ice Hockey Testimonial Days Before Premier League Kick-Off

Petr Cech shows off ice hockey skills…

Petr Cech was handed permission by the club to play in ice hockey testimonial in honour of legendary Czech player Martin Havlat in the city of Brno.

Cech flew to his home country after training on Wednesday, days before our opening Premier League clash against Leicester City on Friday night.

The 35-year-old played a full half of action in goal, proving that his shot-stopping qualities excel on any surface – though it was certainly a huge risk to take.

Cech wanted to make it clear that the club was fully aware and even felt that a short period on ice would aid his pre-season preparations ahead of the huge kick-off.

“I had to promise Arsenal that I would come back immediately after the match,” Cech told iSport TV.

” I’ve got training in the morning, it was only a quick trip.

“You have to know your limits, do it reasonably and don’t get too tired. Spending one period on the ice is a good exercise for me, a great experience and very enjoyable.”

Cech wasn’t at his best for most of the last season, and he’ll certainly look to show Arsene Wenger that the Frenchman doesn’t have to worry about replacing him anytime soon.

Check out how he got on in the video above.
