Reiss Nelson Bags A Goal As England Are Sent Home From European U21 Championship

Arsenal starlet Reiss Nelson scores as he makes his first appearance at the tournament…

Arsenal starlet Reiss Nelson was finally handed a start by Aidy Boothroyd in the European U21 Championship as England took on Croatia for a meaningless clash.

Nelson hadn’t played a single minute in England’s opening two fixtures in which they were defeated by France and Romania to see their stay in Italy cut short.

The 20-year-old drove into the box and was fouled just as he was about to pull the trigger – and Nelson picked the ball up to slot home comfortably.

It begs the question as to why Boothroyd didn’t deem him necessary for the first two games, especially when the team needed goals.

Nelson spent last season on loan at Hoffenheim and after signing a new contract last summer, it’s time for him to start delivering on the undoubted talent he has.

The academy graduate operates in a role where we’re severely lacking bodies and Nelson can help plug the problems we’ve experienced in terms of wide players.

Check out his goal in the video above (via Sky Sports).
