Celtic defender Kieran Tierney is keen to join Arsenal this summer after we had a £15million bid rejected for the Scottish international, Daily Mail reports.

Left-back has been mooted as an area Unai Emery desperately wants to strengthen with the Spaniard having little faith in Sead Kolasniac.

The former Schalke man operated in a left wing-back role for much of last season but looked out of his depth in a back four. Nacho Monreal, who has been very consistent in that position, is nearing the twilight years of his career and it looks as though the club views Tierney as the future.

Given the success Liverpool achieved by acquiring their own marauding Scottish left-back in Andy Robertson, Tierney is viewed as a top prospect in his position and one who could take the Premier League by storm.

BBC’s David Ornstein reported on Saturday that despite our offer being knocked back, Arsenal were confident that an agreement would be reached.

Also, in terms of Tierney’s personal terms, the club doesn’t envisage any stumbling blocks which suggest that they’ve been informed of the full-back’s desire to join.

That has since been confirmed by the report above, with Tierney keen to move to the Premier League and test himself in the most competitive league in the world.

Celtic have exported some top talents to the Premier League in recent years, with the shining light being Virgil Van Dijk.

The Dutchman moved to Southampton for a fee of £10m at the time – he’s now the most expensive defender in the world and was voted PFA Player of the Year.

Full-backs are imperative in the modern game, and Celtic have made it clear that we’d have to part with £25million if we’re to land our man.
