Sead Kolasinac looks set to leave the club in the January window…

Arsenal full-back Sead Kolasinac looks set to leave the club in the January window with Marseille a likely destination as his contract nears its expiration, the Daily Express’ Ryan Taylor reports.

Kolasinac’s contract is up in June and with clubs showing an interest in him this window, the report claims that a mutual termination of the Bosnian’s contract is likely.

The 28-year-old joined the club on a Bosman in 2017 which frees the club from the burden of attempting to recoup a transfer fee.

Also, given that he joined on a free transfer, the former Schalke man is on a hefty salary which means any deal to take him off the wage bill would be welcome.

Kolasinac returned to his beloved Schalke almost a year ago and many thought he’d played his last game for the club, though the option to make that move permanent was scuppered by the Gelsenkirchen side’s relegation.

Terminating contracts is something we’ve unfortunately become accustomed to at Arsenal with the club cancelling agreements with Shkodran Mustafi, Sokratis and Mesut Ozil in the last 12 months.

It speaks to the shoddy executive decisions made by the club under previous regimes and heightens the importance for Edu and Mikel Arteta to learn from those errors.

Nuno Tavares’ arrival in the summer means we have a surplus of left-backs. Kolasinac, while he always tried his best, has never been good enough to play for us.
