According to reports in Italy, Napoli are open to making a loan deal for David Ospina permanent providing that we lower our original asking price, Il Mattino reports (via Sport Witness).

The Serie A giants are currently unwilling to meet the €3.5million asking price agreed in his contract which would be triggered once the Colombian makes 25 appearances.

While Ospina is edging closer to that threshold, Napoli are reportedly willing to hand us additional funds in the January window if we’re comfortable with lowering our demands.

Ospina has made 15 appearances for Carlo Ancelotti’s side and while he isn’t necessarily turning heads, the 30-year-old is comfortable their No.1.

If this report is accurate, it’s rather depressing to see that Napoli feel they can squirm their way out of paying a fee they already agreed to by handing us some funds for January.

€3.5million is peanuts in today’s market and since they’re seeking a reduced price, it seems the Serie A side feel we could do with some help this window.

I think it’s fair to say Ospina’s Arsenal career is now over and the former Nice shot-stopper will go down among a long list of underwhelming figures we’ve had between the sticks.
