Unai Emery is taking on his critics and isn’t budging on the Mesut Ozil issue…

Arsenal head coach Unai Emery has fired back at critics following our disappointing defeat at Sheffield United on Monday and the Gunners head coach is facing questions about his style of play.

Fans are starting to get frustrated at the quality of football served up by Emery during his period as Arsenal boss over the past 15 months.

It’s a predicament which also raises the issue regarding Mesut Ozil’s lack of inclusion in the matchday squad in the Premier League since the 2-2 draw at Watford last month.

The obvious cure to our lack of creativity in the final third seems to be to turn to one of Europe’s best ever No.10’s, irrespective of his current form.

However, when asked about the German international, Emery dismissed the notion that one player can cure our issues and instead wants us to improve as a team.

“On Monday, in Sheffield, the creativity in the first build-up, we did better than other matches,” Emery explained to the written press (via HaytersTV).

“The attacking third is the most difficult because they were there with a lot of people, but last year was the same.

“The issue isn’t for one player or two players (to resolve), it’s for all the players.

“How we can go inside and do one-twos, go from the right side, or sometimes go in behind with one pass. We have players that can do that, not just one.”

Emery refused to even mention Ozil by name when directly asked about the 31-year-old which indicates that their frosty relationship has reached a new level.

Despite claiming that Ozil was improving in training, he was left out of the squad that travelled to Bramall Lane and one wonders if he’ll even play in the Europa League tie against Vitoria SC.
