Arsenal head coach Unai Emery has vowed to give the fans more FA Cup memories as he begins our journey in the competition at Blackpool, the Mirror reports.

As we bid to win the trophy for the 14th time, Emery has made it clear that he’s aware of our affinity with the FA Cup and is looking to respect the competition.

After winning the cup three times in four years, we were dumped out at the third round stage for the first time in over two decades last season as we slumped to Championship side Nottingham Forrest.

When a new manager comes to England, especially if he’s foreign, the curiosity sets in as to whether or not they’re aware of certain traditions in English football.

The FA Cup is one of those traditions and Emery is aware of it and plans to take a strong side to Blackpool.

“Above all, the FA Cup is important in history because Arsenal have won the cup 13 times so it is very important,” Emery was quoted as saying.

“It is also one more title and I think we can give our supporters one more memory.

“We need to play against Blackpool with respect but thinking this is a big way to do something important in this competition.”

After a gruelling festive schedule, managers across the country are sometimes inclined to ring the changes ahead of the second half of the league campaign.

Emery admitted that we will see a rotated side, but one he fully expects to compete and win the game.

“I am using different players because of injuries, because of coming out of [several] matches [close together]. But it is not a period of rotation, it is a period to take a big performance against each team we play.”
