Arsenal defender Dinos Mavropanos is back in full training after his long-term groin problem and the Greek starlet announced his return with a sensational strike in training.

The 21-year-old hasn’t played for us this season after picking up a peculiar groin injury in the summer which has kept him sidelined for months.

As far as we’re aware, Mavropanos hasn’t undergone a procedure to cure the problem which makes the extended lay-off even more baffling.

We’re currently short on numbers at the heart of our defence and after a promising start to his Arsenal career, hopes were high for the youngster this term.

Brought in by Sven Mislintat last January, Arsene Wenger claimed that a loan move was imminent though that plan changed once he saw him play.

Wenger wouldn’t have admitted it, but it quickly became clear that the new head of recruitment was exercising his role and, in hindsight, was the first alarm bell in terms of the Frenchman’s reign ending.

Mavropanos raised his profile with a secure display at Old Trafford towards the back-end of last season as he displayed a number of qualities a modern centre-back possesses.

He dominated Romelu Lukaku in the air and was also quick to smother him when the forward was in possession. However, a harsh red card at Leicester City ended his campaign and we haven’t seen him since.

If the clip below is anything to go by, Mavropanos is looking to pick up where he left off.
