Former Arsenal midfielder Charlie Nicholas believes Arsenal no longer have any excuses and should be challenging for the Champions League and the Premier League.

A Lucas Perez hat-trick and an Alexi Iwobi strike ensured that we finished top of Group A ahead of Paris Saint-Germain who were held at home by Ludogorets.

Given that we’re now three points off league leaders Chelsea and firing in the Champions League, Charlie Nicholas believes that Arsenal must now challenge on both fronts.

“There are no excuses for Arsenal anymore,” Nicholas said on Sky Sports.

“You have the money, you have the capacity, you have the quality, it’s up to them to prove it.”

Nicholas has been a staunch defender of Arsene Wenger in the past but knows that it’s time that the Frenchman and his squad deliver on what has been an ongoing plan.

We’ve essentially rebuilt a squad since the mass departures of Cesc Fabregas and his era of players, and now it’s time for us to push for the major honours.
