Arsenal’s pre-season tour to Sydney begins…

Arsenal have begun their pre-season tour of Australia for the first time under Arsene Wenger ahead of two games against Sydney FC and Western Sydney Wanderers this week.

The squad is visiting the land down under for the first time in forty years as Wenger looks to increase the intensity with back-to-back games in 48 hours.

Wenger has taken a rather strong squad, with the notable absentees consisting of Kieran Gibbs, Lucas Perez, Carl Jenkinson and Wojciech Szczesny.

New signings Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac are on the plane, while the players who competed in international tournaments have been left behind.

Ivan Gazidis can be spotted in the clip above as following the squad to Australia, though I doubt he’ll remain there for the duration of Arsenal’s stay given that the summer is when he earns his wages.

The speculation surrounding the likes of Thomas Lemar and Kylian MbappeƩ continue and Wenger will be hoping that Gazidis can pull off one more big deal.

As ever within this globalised world, Gazidis can still conduct business while away in Australia, communicating with the likes of Dick Law and new arrival Huss Fahmy.

Check out the video above as the squad jets off to Sydney.
