Arsene Wenger has finally gone public regarding Arsenal’s move for Jamie Vardy with the boss stating that the deal is now dead and that he expects the England man to stay at Leicester City.

Arsenal triggered the release clause in Vardy’s contract, though the 29-year-old has been hesitant in committing to the move despite this being his last realistic chance at joining one of Europe’s elite.

Wenger has now confirmed that Vardy will not join Arsenal, a situation which will once again raise alarm bells regarding our policy in the transfer market.

“Jamie Vardy is at the moment at Leicester and on what I know he will stay at Leicester,” Wenger confirmed.

This represents the second time we’ve triggered the release clause of a high-profile player, only for the player to reject our advances and stay at his club.

Top clubs usually sound out a player’s representatives before making a move and it seems that we’ve managed to score a massive own goal once again in the transfer window.

Let’s hope the club already has a contingency plan in place.
