Ex-Arsenal Striker: I Don’t Trust Wenger To Change Transfer Habits

John Hartson feels Wenger has no choice but to change…

Former Arsenal striker John Hartson isn’t fully convinced that Arsene Wenger will kerb is philosophy in the transfer market and justify why he’s been handed a new two-year deal.

Hartson feels that Wenger must be more proactive in the transfer market if he’s to win over the many fans who’ve still to be convinced that the Frenchman is the right man to lead us to glory.

Many were of the opinion that Wenger should’ve walked out on a high following the FA Cup final win against Chelsea, but he clearly still feels intent on reclaiming Arsenal’s position at the top of English football.

For Hartson, we must go in for some of the most sought-after players in the league, though he doubts Wenger will do it.

“Be in for Lukaku, one of the most sought-after centre-forwards in the league,” Hartson implored Wenger while talking to ArsenalFanTV.

“Virgil Van Dijk at Southampton, it’s going to cost £50million. But you know City are going to pay it, you know Chelsea are going to pay it, and you know Man United are going to spend big.”

After listing the number of great strikers we’ve missed out on over the past few seasons in our ongoing quest to replace Robin Van Persie, Hartson was asked if he had faith in Wenger changing tact and going big in the window.

“No, because he’s never done it,” Hartson added.

If the club are intent on healing the fanbase and making sure everyone’s united behind the team when the new campaign starts, they’ve got to cut out some pathetic habits they’ve picked up in the window.
