Thierry Henry narrates interesting anecdote from White Hart Lane in 2004…

Arsenal hero Thierry Henry revealed that the police warned the players not to celebrate had we clinched the title at White Hart Lane in 2004, something our stars subsequently ignored.

Going into the game, we only needed a draw to clinch the title due to Chelsea dropping points against Newcastle United earlier on that day and it’s the result we got.

Reminiscing while appearing on an episode of ‘In The Picture’ for Sky Sports, Henry revisited that memorable afternoon at White Hart Lane.

“We had orders from the police not to over-celebrate if we win the title there,” Henry revealed.

“In all fairness, we all said: ‘okay, we understand’.”

However, Henry narrates that he and the rest of the team got rather irritated by Spurs’ overzealous celebrations after they came back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2.

It may have skipped their minds that we only needed a point to win the title at their ground for the second time in our history, and Henry felt that the players were now fully justified to renege on that previous understanding with the police.

“So we did celebrate, and the pictures are there to prove it. Again, it was always important to have the last laugh.”

If there was any foreign player who understood what it meant to beat Spurs, it was Thierry.

The French wizard tormented them for almost a decade and boasts a handsome record of never losing to them as an Arsenal player.
