Arsenal star Aaron Ramsey waxed lyrical about Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after his sensational brace against Spurs in the north Lond derby, comparing the forward to Gunners great, Thierry Henry.

Speaking to BBC Sport, Ramsey likened Aubameyang to Henry after his match-winning display, and it was his second strike which caught the imagination.

Sent on to rescue the game, Ramsey was played at the tip of a diamond and it was his run forward and assist which allowed the former Dortmund man to curl a sensational effort into the far corner.

Without any backlift or a first touch, Aubameyang slammed the ball home with the in-step, an effort which left Hugo Lloris rooted to the spot.

It was his 10th goal of the season, the first player to reach that tally in the Premier League this season.

“He does that in training all the time. It reminds me of Thierry Henry’s finishes. He’s been fabulous for us.”

After the ball hit the net, it felt as though the fans were going to send the stadium through the ground such was the vibrant atmosphere in the stands.

A ground which had previously garnered a reputation for being mute and disgruntled under Arsene Wenger, it seems fans are mirroring the mannerisms of Unai Emery on the bench.

Ramsey felt the need to point out how the fans helped drag the team over the line: “I have been here for many many years, it means an awful lot to me and to the fans as well.

“I am glad I played my part and we can all go home happy tonight. They could have gone six points in front of us but instead, we’ve gone above them.

“The atmosphere was electric, that really helped us over the line in the end.”
