Aaron Ramsey: I Still Don’t Know Why The Contract Offer Was Withdrawn

Arsenal star Aaron Ramsey says he’s still unaware as to why a contract offer he was ready to sign was abruptly taken off the table by the club, Football London reports.

Speaking after our narrow 1-0 win in Lisbon which left us one step closer to qualification, Ramsey claimed he was seeking an explanation to give him some type of closure.

The midfielder has been locked in negotiations with the club for months and it did seem as though a resolution was nearing with the club upping their wage packet.

However, Ramsey now confirms that those talks were halted and he was left with nothing to sign and, as of yet, no explanation as to why that occurred.

“Hopefully somebody will come up and tell me why,” the 27-year-old told reports.

“I’ll accept that if there’s a reason. We all know that the contract was taken off the table. I’m not sure exactly why because a few weeks before we sort of agreed and I was ready to sign.

“Something happened, I am not sure exactly what, but that contract is no longer there, or nothing’s on the table.

“I just have to get my head down, work hard and try and help this team as much as I can now.

“We’ll see where that takes me.”

The club seems to have taken a comfortable stance in that they are prepared to see Aaron Ramsey walk away for free, which is mind-boggling to many.

However, as Raul Sanllehi hinted towards last week, no decision is made without serious discussions between a number of executives and experts, such is the new structure of the club.
