Arsenal playmaker Alex Iwobi happy to claim three points after Liverpool thrashing…

Arsenal forward Alex Iwobi was delighted with our response against Fulham days after being humbled at Anfield as we continued our hope for a top-four finish.

With Chelsea playing on Wednesday against a rejuvenated Southampton, we had the chance to close the gap to the top four to just two points and we delivered.

Having said that, the 4-1 scoreline certainly flattered us and once again we were slow out of the blocks and could’ve been 3-0 down at half-time.

Granit Xhaka gave us the lead against the run of play midway through the first half after finding himself alone in the penalty area.

Alexandre Lacazette doubled the lead shortly after half-time after a sensational move, though the euphoria was cut short with substitute Aboubakar Kamara halved the deficit for the west London side.

It was a nervy few minutes before Aaron Ramsey and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang made the result safe.

“It was a good performance from the team, and a great response after the defeat we had [at Liverpool] so it was a good result,” Iwobi told Arsenal Player.

“They had a few chances and a few good spells, but we were resilient and able to ward them off.

“We had a few chances and with the attackers we have, we will always have those. But we were able too get four and that is enough for today.”

Iwobi played a huge part in our opening two goals and the 23-year-old is hoping to turn the Emirates into a fortress for the duration of the season.

“We just picked ourselves up in training and you just have to forget about the past but learn your lessons,” he added.

“You could see today that we played with confidence and did well.

“We like to make sure our opponents are scared to come to the Emirates, and we have kept that going and it’s a great win for us and for the fans.”
