Arsenal are eyeing up a move for Facundo Torres…

Arsenal director Edu is set to hold talks with Orlando City star Facundo Torres’s representatives ahead of a potential move in the upcoming January window, Goal reports.

Torres, who reportedly caught the club’s eye during our pre-season fixture with the Florida outfit – a game in which he scored a lovely goal – has found the net regularly this season.

A left-footed right winger, the Uruguayan has notched 17 goal contributions in 30 MLS games this season and is being eyed as a potential understudy to Bukayo Saka.

The club were very public in their pursuit of Raphinha last summer as they looked for a player with that profile and with Saka loaded with many minutes, finding an alternative is essential.

Marquinhos joined the club in June and while Mikel Arteta decided he should stay at the club this season, his rawness has been exposed in recent games with the club hopefully looking at a loan move away for the Brazilian.

Nevertheless, the report claims any move for Torres is far from close with the club yet to make contact with Orlando about a potential deal.

However, this does suggest Edu is narrowing down a list of targets to pursue immediately as clubs make plans for the January window during the World Cup break.
