Sky Sports’ Jamie Carragher has loved watching Arteta’s side…

Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher stated that Arsenal have been his favourite team to watch this season and banked on us finishing inside the top four, the Mirror reports.

Carragher has long admired the work done by Mikel Arteta at the club and while others pretend we’ve suddenly become a decent team, the former Liverpool man saw the vision.

While he previously admitted that we “look like title challengers” this season, Carragher believes Arsenal will have to settle for a top four spot and ultimately finish second.

We lead Manchester City by two points but with Pep Guardiola’s men often strolling through games with the sensational Erling Haaland up front, the expectation is that they will soon run away with it.

Having said that, a title charge was never realistically part of the plan this season and the strength of our squad proves that. Though preparing ourselves for an eventual title race for the youngest team in the league can only be done by going for it this term.

“I do think the north London clubs will both get in it (top four) now, I really do believe that,” Carragher was quoted as saying.

“I have loved watching Arsenal, they’ve been almost my favourite team to watch this season.

“I think Liverpool will get in there ahead of Chelsea and then the two north London clubs alongside Man City.”

A top four finish will allow the club to generate the finances needed to build a squad capable of challenging for the title and in Europe.

This season has exposed how many more bodies we need to compete given that the Europa League group stages has allowed us to rest some players given the quality of opposition.

If we do make it into the Champions League, we’ll need to be able to field a top quality team every three days for most of the campaign.
