Arsene Wenger hints that Arsenal’s business is done…
Arsene Wenger has hinted that Arsenal’s business in the transfer window may be done after stating that only an “exceptional player” would be considered in the remaining weeks of the window.
Wenger has spent a transfer fee on only one player this summer, a record move for Frenchman Alexandre Lacazette who’ll certainly prove to be a hit.
Sead Kolasinac was signed on a free transfer, although that deal was concluded towards the end of last season given the Bosnian’s ability to enter talks in January.
However, Wenger has struggled to move players on this summer and the boss stated that the surplus of players he has would mean that any meaningless addition would be rather “stupid”.
“The priority is we are open to an exceptional player,” Wenger told Sky Sports.
“Just to remind you that we have 33, that is basically unmanageable, and all 33 players are good players, very good players.
“To bring one player in would be stupid, if we find an exceptional player we will do it.”
This should come as no surprise to fans who’ve seen a certain pattern occur during the transfer window, and it seems Wenger identified Kolasinac and Lacazette as the two additions we needed to close the 18-point gap at the top of the table.
Wenger once went a whole window without making an outfield signing, I firmly believe he believes exactly what he says about our remaining transfer window.
