Former Manchester United defender Rafael Da Silva has backed Alexandre Lacazette to succeed at Arsenal following his big summer move from Lyon.
Rafael and Lacazette shared a dressing room at Lyon, where the 26-year-old netted 37 times in all competitions during his last season at Parc Olympique Lyonnais.
Arsene Wenger parted with a record transfer fee to bring Lacazette to north London, ending our wait for a top striker to arrive since the departure of Robin Van Persie.
The former Lyon man has already scored a couple of goals in pre-season, though it seems he’s more concerned with integrating into the team play rather than just finding the back of the net.
“He is a very clever player, he knows how to score goals,” the Brazilian full-back told Goal.
“He’s also fast, and that’s what the striker needs. I think he will be very successful at Arsenal.
“I think so [he needs time to adapt] and I do not think it will take a long time. At the beginning of the match, he might have trouble, but after that, he will run fast.”
Lacazette’s biggest task comes this weekend in a somewhat competitive game as he goes against Premier League champions Chelsea in the Community Shield.
That game has propelled the careers of some top Premier League strikers in the past who’ve netted in the season’s curtain raiser on their debut, and hopefully, Lacazette can follow in those footsteps.
