Gary Neville discusses Alexis Sanchez’s failed move…

Gary Neville claims that Arsenal’s season depends on which Alexis Sanchez turns up after the forward was denied a deadline day move to Manchester City.

Arsenal reportedly agreed a £60 million fee with Man City on deadline day, only for the move to fall through in the final moments after we couldn’t conclude a deal for Monaco’s Thomas Lemar.

Alexis, who’s out of contract next summer, produced a tepid display at Anfield and it seems that performance pushed the boss into seeking a deal with Pep Guardiola’s men.

For Neville, Alexis hasn’t been interested in the team’s achievements with his constant berating of teammates despite producing wonderful individual moments.

“For Arsenal now, it’s all about which Sanchez turns up,” Neville said on Sky Sports.

“The terrier-type player that I look at and love, or the one in the last four or five months that throws the towel in and his hands in the air at his team-mates, which I do not like.

“He’s been someone who has been difficult to warm to in the last few months, particularly at Anfield. Within the first 20 minutes after the first goal, he was throwing his arms up at his teammates.”

When the star player is constantly criticising teammates in such a public manner, it quickly ruins team morale given that us fans will often side with Alexis.

His ability to win us a game in an instant has also led to Wenger persisting with him despite rumours of his difficult and his contractual situation.
