Arsenal’s skipper for the day Granit Xhaka dedicates Newcastle United win to absent teammates…

Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka made it clear that the win at Newcastle United was dedicated to his teammates Mesut Ozil and Sead Kolasianc after the duo didn’t make the trip due to security concerns, Sky Sports reports.

Kolasinac and Ozil were attacked by two knife-wielding robbers who attempted to hijack the German’s car last month, only for them to be chased off by the left-back.

Arsenal released a statement before our opening game to reveal that there had been further incidents involving the pair and that their safety was of paramount importance.

It’s a completely unfortunate and worrying situation that all parties involved find themselves in, with Unai Emery now left without two senior players indefinitely.

Emery claimed after the game that he wasn’t completely sure if either player would return for next week’s clash against Burnley.

“We know the story about Sead and Mesut,” Xhaka said.

“It’s not easy for them or their family. So we tried to do our best and to get the win for them.”

It’s a bit difficult to see how this predicament gets resolved soon and one would’ve thought that law enforcement could secure the pair’s safety by now.

It was reported by The Telegraph that two men were arrested outside Ozil’s property last week, something I’d imagine leaves the 30-year-old feeling unsafe in his own home.

Hopefully, this bizarre situation can be resolved soon and we can see the duo back on the pitch doing what they do best.
