Jack Wilshere lost his temper after a late tackle…

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere was sent off in his second appearance for the U23s this season after reacting angrily to a late tackle in the middle of the park.

Wilshere started in central midfield and dictated the game as our boys ran out 4-2 winners against Manchester City, with Reiss Nelson the star of the show again as he netted yet another brace.

The game took place at the Emirates Stadium with a healthy crowd in attendance, though Wilshere stole the headlines with his antics as the game drew to a close.

In fairness to the 25-year-old, his injury record has been well publicised, so it’s natural for him to be extra sensitive when he received needless tackles – especially to his ankles.

However, Matthew Smith seemed more like a frustrated teenager who’d struggled to get near Wilshere all game rather than a malicious player looking to cause damage.

After pushing Smith to the ground, Wilshere then turned to Tyreke Wilson who attempted to come to his aid, and the handbags continued in the tunnel as both players were sent off.

Wilshere is out of contract next summer and while this ban won’t affect his participation in any first-team games, it may plant a seed in Wenger’s mind.

The boss has been understanding of Wilshere’s temper in the past given what he’s gone through and one wouldn’t be surprised if he brushed this incident aside.
