Arsenal are intensifying their efforts to land Ever Banega…
Arsenal have reportedly tabled an offer to Sevilla’s midfield general Ever Banega as Unai Emery aims to be reunited with his former lieutenant, according to Estadio Deportivo.
Banega has been heavily linked with a move to north London ever since Emery got the Arsenal gig with the midfield area becoming a problem for Emery.
Aaron Ramsey looks set to join Juventus next summer while Mesut Ozil can’t work his way back into Emery’s plans with the German constantly left out of matchday squads.
According to the report, our offer has taken Banega by surprise as it meets all his demands: a three-year deal worth £7m per annum.
Although clubs are expected to wait until they’re granted permission to speak to a player, the release clause present in Banega’s contract means Sevilla wouldn’t have much of a say.
Emery was asked about Banega when he faced the press ahead of our clash against West Ham United and the Gunners head coach admitted his interest in the Argentine international.
“I know this player and he’s a very good player,” Emery said about Banega (via Arsenal Player).
“I cannot tell you more.”
Any potential deal for Banega will have to wait until the summer after Emery revealed that there are no funds available for permanent transfers in January – a statement which has baffled many.
It seems the club’s hierarchy are banking on us to qualify for the Champions League next season before loosening the purse strings.
Failure to qualify will probably lead to unthinkable financial setbacks.
