Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil is set to miss yet another Premier League game with the back injury which has been bothering him in recent weeks, The Evening Standard reports.

Ozil has missed our last two league games against Manchester United and Spurs after spending our game at Bournemouth on the bench.

Unai Emery’s explanation for making that particular decision fuelled rumours that the two had fallen out with the Spaniard consistently stressing the importance of work rate and tactical discipline in his system.

The German was named on the bench at the Vitality Stadium and despite the game being level for a considerable amount of time, Emery never turned to Ozil.

Speaking to former Arsenal striker Jeremie Aliadiere for Malaysia’s AstroSport, Emery was blunt when asked why Ozil hadn’t entered the field of play during the 90 minutes: “we have a lot of players and I decided to choose another player,” the boss said.

We then heard of a mysterious back injury before the Spurs game, though Emery couldn’t confirm how he sustained it or whether or not the German star was at the game last Sunday when quizzed after the game.

Whether or not we’re reading into this a bit too much remains to be seen, but Ozil is starting to become an issue for Emery.

Taking on the team’s marquee name when you’re a new manager isn’t usually the desired method, but our unbeaten run is certainly vindicating Emery’s decisions.

He seems adamant not to let events at PSG repeat themselves when player power took its toll on him. At Arsenal, Emery’s in charge, and we’re fully behind him.
