Uruguayan reporter Alvaro Levrero claims that a deal for Dani Alves to join Arsenal on a free transfer will be completed shortly as Unai Emery looks to add depth to the right-back position.
Free Agent #DaniAlves would be #Gunner shortly. As @Arsenal realised swiss #StefanLichtsteiner, #Unai needs a strong option to start #Premier in right back position until #Bellerin‘s plenty recovering. Despite his age the #Brazilian form is more than excellent.

Alves left Paris Saint-Germain in June following the end of his contract there and didn’t reveal his next destination ahead of his Copa America exploits.
The legendary right-back featured heavily for Brazil as the five-time world champions claimed their first Copa America title since 2007.
Alves started in every game for the hosts and at the age of 36, his performances at right-back were extraordinary.
While the links may seem slightly baffling considering that we just let another ageing right-back go in Stephan Lichsteiner, adding a right-back to the squad makes sense.
Our first choice in that position Hector Bellerin is still recovering from a serious injury and his return date is yet to be specified.
That leaves Carl Jenkinson and Ainsley Maitland-Niles as our only options in that position, and those two clearly don’t fill Unai Emer – or the fans – with much confidence.
This may be Alves’ last chance to play in the Premier League too after turning down a move to Manchester City to join PSG in 2017.
The absence of a transfer fee could also be very attractive to the club given the much-publicised ‘restricted budget’ that we’re operating on.
Let’s see if there are any legs to this one!
